MY EXPERIENCE TAKING THE ONLINE TEST

Hi welcome back to my 6th post. This is my last assignment that i must put into my blog.Today i want to tell you about my experience taking the online test on week 12 we are study. This test is quiet challenging because we must answer the question by following the time that they give. The time were set by computer, so i must complete this test 1 hour with 30 challenging questions. The first test is really2 difficult. I need to read 4 passage to answer all the questions.Firstly i think i can not finish this task because the time is move very fast.So i answer it quickly then send the answers.I feel so frustrated when i see my mark.i just get 37 mark only then my friend ain who get 69%.i feel regret that i not answer the question better. But the second test i try to make the best.Although the time is not enough to me to answer all the question because the next time is for the second group class,i try doing my best.My mark for the second test is 20/30.i feel thankful for Allah because my mark is quite better than first.

I like this online test because there give a lot of advantages for me.By answering the question using the online we can get the mark fastly and correctly.we do not need to wait for a long time to get the mark. The lecturer also do not have a lot of works to mark the paper if we all make the test by using the online.Beside that,we can get immediate feedback. This test also not have the bias or cheated because computer make all the mark. The electronic media have no feeling and were set so there have no more cheated and favoritism here. All the mark that were be given is true and correct. So i really2 interested while making this tests.I hope all the tests in university will be doing using the online. It not waste my time, energy and ect.

1. Do you think that blogging activity improves your writing skill?

Yes,i really2 agree with this question because when making the blog i can improve my languages especially the writing skill.I can improve my grammar, vocabulary and spelling.I have know more about writing skill while making this. For the example the computer assisted writing skill made me learn more about how to write better than before. It also help me know about developing ideas, organizing, outlining, and brainstorming. It really2 teach me how to be a patient person to learn more about that.I really2 enjoy making this blog.

2.Do you think that blog is a useful learning experience for you?

Yes,firstly I’m doing this blog i feel so bored and i don’t know actually what i were gonna be done.Everyday i feel that i have more burden. All the assignment that i must put in blog i do not make.I have been changing when i see my friends while doing the blog. She always feel happy and always ask the another friends about how to create the good blog.I see that in her blog, she put her pictures and song.So that i ask her to teach me how to do that. Then she teach me from how to create the blog until I’m understand. And now i do not need her guide again because i was know how to do that.I think that blog is a really2 useful learning experience for me.I had know about the best writing skill, and also i can improve my grammar and learn more about the new words while typing this blog.So i really2 love writing in blog.It is my interesting moment that i can learn the new things especially about blog.

3. What do you think that you need to know before you can complete the blogging activity successfully.

There have more things that i need to know before i can complete the blog.First, i need to post all the assignment that Datin want me to do into blog.Datin will give some comments after she check our blog.sometimes She tell about what we are need to do after that in her comment.Datin were teach a lot of things to me and my friends. To make the blogging activity successfully we need to follow all the activity that Datin do.For example, she teach me how to play the game and then we need to tell about our experiences while playing these game into the blog.it really2 interesting word that i ever do.Besides that we also have the online ICT test where else we need to answer the question using the computer. This test is quiet challenging but i like it although my mark only a little bit than other. All the work that Datin want me to do is really2 have full of meaning.I really2 like the way how she speak and communicate with me.I really2 like her very much.when we make all the assignment post into the blog it mean that we do not miss her class and it can complete our blog successfully.Someones who ever leave her class maybe have the big problem to do this blog. The successful blog is the blog that have more invites from outside. It means that your blog is interesting and full of knowledges, entertainment, joke, graphics, animations and so on.

4. What are your problems that you face using blog

First create the blog i do not know how to register my blog address. It quite difficult to register that because most of the password were same with the other person do.So i need to register back it’s take a long time to do.Next is, i do not know how to post the blog.I’m feel such a fool girl when i’m just seeing what are my friends did to post into blog. After i know how to post my assignment into blog , i see that my friend were put the song and pictures in blog.I can not follow them. They make the work so fastest than me.Sometimes i feel so frustrated while doing this blog. But when i think back i can not feel like that because maybe i have the another opportunity to do this better the next time. This blog were teach me about the new experiences especially about how to be a patient person.

5. Will you tell your friends, recommend to others about blogging?

Yes,i will.It is because creating the blog can give a lot of experiences to the people. We do not just can put the assignments but we also can promote our products, services and so on there. The active blog will make the others company supported you to promote their product using you blog. So, more income that invites your blog, you maybe will be paid.We also can put all the graphics, animation, pictures there. So we do not lost ourself while creating this blog because it have a lot of advantages. So for the people who do not have the blog yet let create it now.

6. Now that you are able to blog online will you continue using it even after the SKBP is over?

Yes, i think i want to continue using this blog because it give me a lot of positive effect.I think i want to promote my future products in this blog so that the people can buy my product just from the straight online.I hope i can use it to create my first business start from blog.I want all the people will know me from my blog. Thanks a lot for Datin because she, the only one of the lecturer that teach me how to create the blog until i can do it myself.I reaally2 like her very much.

CORCODANCE

Hi welcome back to my blog. This is my fourth post that I should put into my blog. This task is quite challenging than before. I need to summarize what I have understood about concordance. Actually a concordance is an alphabetical list of the principal words used in a book or body of work, with their immediate contexts. Because of the time and difficulty and expense involved in creating a concordance in the pre computer era only works of special importance, such as the al quran or the works of shakespear, had concordances prepared for them. Even with the use of computers, producing a concordance may require much manual work, because they often include additional material, including commentary on, or definitions of, the indexed words, and topical cross-indexing that is not yet possible with computer-generated and computerized concordances. However, when the text of a work is on a computer, a search function can carry out the basic task of a concordance, and is in some respects even more versatile than one on paper. So, to know more about concordance lets check it out……..

CONCORDANCE-

BEYOND CONCORDANCE LINE: USING CONCORDANCE TO INVESTIGATE LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT (BY ARSHAD ABD SAMAD)

When I had finished read the entire article about concordance written by Arshad Abd Samad I can conclude that this article has attempted to present the relevance of corpus data in investigating language development without having to analyze concordance lines. It has used a local learner corpus in order to highlight the existence of such corpora as well as the efficacy of these corpora in corpus- based studies. In this article developmental patterns are examined by studying the languages productivity as well as vocabulary use of the students. Languages productivity involves the amount of the languages produced while vocabulary use refers to the sophistication of the vocabulary as well as the use of academic vocabulary based on a language corpus.

The diversity of the vocabulary used in a corpus is often determined by calculating the type to token ratio. This ratio is calculated by dividing the numbers of separate words in a text. A larger type to token ratio is interpreted as an indication of a wider range of languages used. Uncommon words tend not to be used frequently. A possible reason for the low type to token ratio is the nature of the written text itself.

The sophistication of the vocabulary can be determined by using specialized software such as RANGE, a vocabulary analysis program which gives an indication of the kind of vocabulary used. The program analyses text by comparing it to several base lists of frequently used words. The first base list includes the most frequent 1000 words in English. The second includes the second most frequent 1000 words and the third includes the first 2000 words in the two previous lists but are frequent in upper secondary and university levels from a wide range of subjects. All three base lists include the base form words and derive

TRANSLATION

Translation is the action of interpretation of the meaningof a text, and subsequent production of an equivalent text, also called a translation, that communicates the same message in another language. The text to be translated is called the “source text” and the language it is to be translated into is called the “target language“; the final product is sometimes called the “target text.”Translation must take into account constraints that include context, the rules of grammar of the two languages, their writing conventions, and their idioms. A common misconception is that there exists a simple “word-for-word” correspondence between any two languages, and that translation is a straightforward mechanical process. A word-for-word translation does not take into account context, grammar, conventions, and idioms.Translation is fraught with the potential for spilling over” of idioms and usages from one language into the other, since both languages repose within the single brain of the translator. Such spilling-over easily produces linguistic hybrids such as “Franglai” (FrenchEnglish, “Spanglish” (SpanishEnglish), “Poglis” (PolishEnglish) and “Portuño” (PortugueseSpanish).

EXAMPLE OF TRANSLATION

LITERARY TRANSLATION

The art of translation is as old as written literature. Parts of the sumarian of epic gilgamesh, among the oldest known literary works, have been found in translations into several asiatic languages of the second millennium BCE. The Epic of Gilgamesh may have been read, in their own languages, by early authors of the bible and of the iliad. With the advent of computers, attempts have been made to computerize or otherwise automate the translation of natural language texts or to use computers as an aid to translation. Translation of literary work( novel, short stories, poem etc.) is considered a literary pursuit in its own right. Notable in canadian literature specifically as translators are figures such as Robert Dickson and Linda Gaboriau, and the Governor General’s Awards present prizes for the year’s best English-to-French and French-to-English literary translations. Other writers, among many who have made a name for themselves as literary translators, include Vasily Zhukovsky, Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński, Vladimir Nabokov, Jorge Luis Borges, and Robert Stiller.

History

The first important translation in the West was that of the septuagint a collection of Jewist Scriptures translated into koin in between the 3rd and 1st centuries. The dispersed Jews had forgotten their ancestral language and needed Greek versions (translations) of their Scriptures.Throughout the Middle Ages, Latin was the lingua franca of the learned world. The 9th-century Alfred the Great, king of Wessex in England, was far ahead of his time in commissioning vernacular AngloSaxon translations of Bede‘s Ecclesiastical History and BoethiusConsolation of Philosophy. Meanwhile the Christian Church frowned on even partial adaptations of the standard Latin Bible. The first large-scale efforts at translation were undertaken by the Arabs. Having conquered the Greek world, they made Arabic versions of its philosophical and scientific works. During the Middle Ages, some translations of these Arabic versions were made into Latin, chiefly at Córdoba in Spain.Such Latin translations of Greek and original Arab works of scholarship and science would help advance the development of European Scholasticism. The broad historic trends in Western translation practice may be illustrated on the example of translation into the English language. The first fine translations into English were made by England’s first great poet, the 14th-century Geoffrey Chaucer, who adapted from the Italian of Giovanni Boccaccio in his own Knight’s Tale and Troilus and Criseyde; began a translation of the Frenchlanguage de la Rose; and completed a translation of Boethius from the Latin. Chaucer founded an English poetic tradition on adaptations and translations from those earlier-established literary languages. The first great English translation was the Wycliffe Bible which showed the weaknesses of an underdeveloped English prose. Only at the end of the 15th century would the great age of English prose translation begin with Thomas Malory‘s Le Morte Darthur—an adaptation of Arthurian romances so free that it can, in fact, hardly be called a true translation. The first great Tudor translations are, accordingly, the Tyndale New Testament (1525), which would influence the Authorized Version (1611), and Lord Berners‘ version of Jean Froissart‘s ChronicleMeanwhile, in Renaissance Italy, a new period in the history of translation had opened in Florence with the arrival, at the court of Cosimo de’ Medici, of the Byzantine scholar Georgius Gemistus Pletho shortly before the fall of Constantinople to the Turks (1453). A Latin translation of Platos works was undertaken by Marsilio Ficino. This and Erasmus Latin edition of the New Testament led to a new attitude to translation. For the first time, readers demanded rigor of rendering, as philosophical and religious beliefs depended on the exact words of Plato, Aristotle and Jesus.Throughout the 18th century, the watchword of translators was ease of reading. Whatever they did not understand in a text, or thought might bore readers, they omitted. They cheerfully assumed that their own style of expression was the best, and that texts should be made to conform to it in translation. For scholarship they cared no more than had their predecessors and they did not shrink from making translations from translations in third languages, or from languages that they hardly knew, or as in the case of jame Macpherson‘s “translations” of Ossian from texts that were actually of the “translator’s” own composition. The 19th century brought new standards of accuracy and style. In regard to accuracy, observes J.M. Cohen, the policy became “the text, the whole text, and nothing but the text,” except for any bawdy passages and the addition of copious explanatory footnotes. In regard to style, the Victorians‘ aim, achieved through far-reaching metaphrase (literality) or pseudo-metaphrase, was to constantly remind readers that they were reading a foreign classic. An exception was the outstanding translation in this period, Edward FitzGerald‘s Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (1859), which achieved its Oriental flavor largely by using Persian names and discreet Biblical echoes and actually drew little of its material from the Persian original. In advance of the 20th century, a new pattern was set in 1871 by Benjamin Jowett, who translated Plato into simple, straightforward language. Jowett’s example was not followed, however, until well into the new century, when accuracy rather than style became the principal criterion.

SONG TEXT

Translation of sung texts is generally much more restrictive than translation of poetry, because in the former there is little or no freedom to choose between a versified translation and a translation that dispenses with verse structure. One might modify or omit rhyme in a singing translation, but the assignment of syllables to specific notes in the original musical setting places great challenges on the translator. There is the option in prose, less so in verse, of adding or deleting a syllable here and there by subdividing or combining notes, respectively, but even with prose the process is almost like strict verse translation because of the need to stick as closely as possible to the original prosody.Other considerations in writing a singing translation include repetition of words and phrases, the placement of rests and/or punctuation, the quality of vowels sung on high notes, and rhythmic features of the vocal line that may be more natural to the original language than to the target language.Translations are also used as aids to audiences, singers and conductors, when a work is being sung in a language not known to them. The most familiar case is that of subtitles projected during opera performances. Other examples are translations that have been inserted into concert programs or that accompany CDs. In addition, singers, professional and amateur, often sing works in languages they do not know , and translations are then used to enable them to understand the meaning of the words they are singing.

Online Databases

Hai welcome back to my blog. Here i want to show you my third asignment about online databases. This task is quite difficult to do.I need to go to Tun Sri Lanang library to search a lot of information about online databases. To complete this task i have choose the topic about The Impact Of Using ICT for Business. As you know computer have brought more positive effects if we not abuse it.So there are so many benefits that can be found by using computer especially for the education, job, and bussines. Here i just want to focus about the effect of using ICT for bussines.Actually it is not easy to found all the information about this topic.I’m need to go to PTSL  everyday to search the imformation about that.I need to analyse the jurnal and the other material to seacrh the  point about this topic. From the information that i get, i can make the conclusion that:

Information technology have been growing at anastonishing speed. Most of the reseach analysed that the impact of using ICT like e- commerce on freight transport, logistic and physical distribution, regarding both bussines to bussines (B&B) and bussines to consumer (B&C) have brought more positive effect to the people especially to the salesmen. Some people say that recent reduction in energy intensity were connected to the growth in information technology and the internet economy. They belived that possible cause of remarkable for bussines are change by IT.By using the ICT the increasing effiency in every other sector especially economy sector will be explored.

For the example Digital Future project  was launched in Feb 2000 as a year long inquiry into the social and environmental opportunities of e commerce and the new economy.By making the reseach they found that the possition of ICT  in the global economy were rising as well as touching on key social issues such as human right and diversity. They make the reseach focused oh three key themes in e- busssines;resource efffenciency and dematerialisation, corporate respponsibility in the information society and sustainable regional development.Other reported look into issues like invironmental and social impact of mobile computing digital music,e-banking and communicating of sustainability guidance for higher education instituation.

By using e-commerce through the ICT system the bussines have brought a lot of impact. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of e-commerce impact on bussines efficiency shows that the main cost position, which directly depend on e-commerce adaption and use and experience quite big changes are average cost of inventory management the cost material ordering process and the cost of labour will decrease. This revolution can make all the bussines will be better progress.

We can also use the concerning strategy like by introduction allof new innovative product and service by using higher ICT bussines value.Beside that bussines format franchising also is the best stategy option for bussines grow  at home and abroad. For example franchising is becoming one of the most popular method for growing a bussines particularly where international growth is an abjective. It should be seriously considered by any bussines which operate through a net work of out let. This way can give someone else’s money and open a lot of job opportunities to the people. So I  think we should know the ICT give more important impact t the human if we know how to use it.It’s not only give impact to the bussines but also to the education, job and so on.

The challenge of any reseach is not to just recognise the problem but to know what can be done, how it can be done and to choose certain sollutions. It is not enough to know that ICT in e-bussines has been changing our daily life, economy and our social life .It is not even to understand how it is changing everything ultimately an approach which can influence the behavior like DESIREBLE.

Computer Assisted Writting

Hai welcome back to my blog. Here i want  to show you about my second post.Actually i’m very tired today but i need try to finish it as my second asingment that i must put into my blog.If i do not do like that Datin will agry with me and i can’t get full mark for her asignment.Poor to me ya??…:-)..Emm….But how lazy i am today i must finish this asignment. It is because making this blog also is my responsiblity as a student. So,today i want to tell you about Computer Assisted Writting.I know most of you have know about that.So here i also want to add some information about this topic.Lets check it out!!!!

INTRODUCTION FOR COMPUTER ASSISTED INSTUCTION

“Computer-assisted instruction” (CAI) refers to instruction or remediation presented on a computer. Many educational computer programs are available online and from computer stores and textbook companies..Computer programs for writing help students with developing ideas, organizing, outlining, and brainstorming. Templates provide a framework and reduce the physical effort spent on writing so that students can pay attention to organization and content.

Computer programs are interactive and can illustrate a concept through attractive animation, sound, and demonstration. They allow students to progress at their own pace and work individually or problem solve in a group. Computers provide immediate feedback, letting students know whether their answer is correct. If the answer is not correct, the program shows students how to correctly answer the question. Computers offer a different type of activity and a change of pace from teacher-led or group instruction. Computer-assisted instruction improves instruction for students with disabilities because students receive immediate feedback and do not continue to practice the wrong skills. Computers capture the students’ attention because the programs are interactive and engage the students’ spirit of competitiveness to increase their scores. Also, computer-assisted instruction moves at the students’ pace and usually does not move ahead until they have mastered the skill. Programs provide differentiated lessons to challenge students who are at risk, average, or gifted.

EXAMPLEHere i want to show you an example about how astudent organized her writting.A student want to make an essay. Her topic is about Chesapeak Bay.She think about three main ideas and she need to add supporting details for each three main ideas. After that she can compose her paragraph. Here is an example for her poin before she write an esssay:

CHESAPEAK BAY

i)Food

– rock fish

-crabs

ii)Fun

-swimming

-boating

iii)Job

-wateman

-rescue

This student has make a brainstorming activity in which she write freely about a topic because she is looking for specific focus. While she is writting one idea will spark another idea. As with listing the purpose of freewritting is to generate as many ideas as possible and to write them down without worrying about appropriateness, grammar, spelling, logic or organization. This is easier to do if this student use computer to make her essay.By using the computer all the work can make more faster than using hand writting. On the other hand, using computer also have more advantages such as we can add a lot of grafic, animation and etc for our work or asignment.

Here are some another example that i want to show to you abut computer program for writting:

Word prediction

  • Student-specific programs that identify words that student uses repeatedly; when the student types the first few letters, the program lists frequently used words that start with those letters
  • speeds up the typing process

Speech-to-text

  • student speaks into a microphone and the program types the words
  • program must be “trained” to the student’s word pronunciation and speech style
  • student must be taught how to use the program
  • increased speed from thought to text

Text-to-speech

  • student can hear what she has typed to check if it says what she wants it to say
  • good for editing

Spell-checker

  • helps student identify misspelled words
  • automatically corrects words if the teacher set the program that way

Thesaurus

  • offers student other words that mean the same as the word he or she is using
  • adds variety to student’s writing and increases student vocabulary

SUMMARY

Computer programs for writing help students with developing ideas, organizing, outlining, and brainstorming. Templates provide a framework and reduce the physical effort spent on writing so that students can pay attention to organization and content.Working in a group also helps the students make writing an interactive activity. They will receive immediate feedback from others, making them aware of the need for clarity and for expressing their ideas so that they can be understood by others. This interactive feedback is extremely helpful to writers engaged in revision. It also provides each writer with experience in helping others revise their writings.

Jigsaw Reading And Reading Imformation

Hai welcome to my first blog….Here i want to show you about my first asignment that i must put in my blog. The title is Jigsaw Reading and Reading Information. This topic is discuss about an activity learning among students. For more informations please read all the things that i have put in my blog……;-)

JIGSAW READING

ABSTRACT: The “Jigsaw Reading” is an activity that can be adopted in any classroom to encourage active learning among students. Students select one of several journal articles from an approved list, read the article, write a summary, and prepare a short oral presentation. In class students are assigned to small groups with students from each of the other articles. Students then take turns in presenting the main points of their article to the other students in their group. The jigsaw reading combines several important aspects of learning including reading comprehension, writing, oral presentation, and small-group work, into a single in-class assignment.Studies have shown that student learning can be enhanced by students’ involvement in teaching their peers. The primary advantage of the jigsaw reading is its wide versatility. The jigsaw reading can be utilized for classes of any size or instruction level and by professors of all teaching abilities. It can be used a single piece of a broader strategy to include active learning in the classroom and can be easily modified to correspond to the needs of a specific course.

 JIGSAW READING ACTIVITIES

Jigsaw Reading Activity
1)Divide participants into small, heterogeneous groups.
2)Each group should select one person to be the leader.
3)Divide the articles between the groups and assign each group member one segment to read.

4)Distribute recording sheets to group members so they can take notes.
5)Give the group members time to read their segments.
6)Form “expert groups” and have the “expert groups” discuss the main points of their segment.
7)Have participants move back into their jigsaw groups and present his or her segment.
8)Other group members should ask clarifying questions.
9)Reconvene as a whole group to discuss findings and clarify any questions

THE ADVANTAGES OF JIGSAW READING

The jigsaw reading has several specific positive aspects that make it an effective active learning
tool. First, it is effective in any size classroom from 4 to 100 (although the administrative aspects of
assigning papers and assigning students to small groups become more difficult in larger classes.) While
active discussion and student presentations to the whole class are difficult or impractical in bigger
classrooms, small group work like the jigsaw reading are equally effective in large classes as in small
classes. In fact, the jigsaw reading the will work to establish a sense of community in larger classrooms.
Research shows that students tend to feel less responsibility towards their fellow students and the
professor in impersonal classrooms. In addition, students who feel anonymous in class are less motivated to learn and less likely to do the required work.

INTRODUCTION TO ICT.

GAMES

Hi welcome back to my blog. Here, I want to tell you about games. Study ICT with Datin make me feel enjoy because I can play games too not just study about computer and languages only. Other lecturers maybe do not want me to do like that. Most of them want me to focus with the study and do all the work that they want me to do. Sometimes I feel so bored always doing the same work. But while coming on Datin’s lecture I feel so happy because she does not want me to do the same work. Lets see she want me to play the game. It so enjoy you knows………. But I must put all the work includes the game that I have played in my blog. It so difficult to do that because it my first time I’m doing all the assignment in blog. But it does still make me enjoy.

I have chosen my favorite game to put in my blog. That is the hanggaroo game. This game is quite challenging. I need to guess what are the alphabet that I need to put into the box that have been prepared to built the word or sentence follow the categorize that they want. This game is same like hangman game. When we put the wrong alphabet reach until five mistakes the kangaroo that live beside the box will be hang and become an angel. It make me feel enjoy while playing this game. It is because I do not just to play it to release my tension only but I can improve my English languages too. I also can study about how to be a patient person. Sometimes I play this game with my friend. Who can answer the question correctly will be the winner. You out there also can try to play this game.
